Ingredients:
For the batter:
Urid Dal - 1 cup
Idly Rice - 4 cups
Salt - 2 tsp
Water
For the topping:
Onion - 1 medium (finely chopped)
Cheese - 100 gms (crushed)
Red Chilli Flakes - to taste
Cheese - 100 gms (crushed)
Red Chilli Flakes - to taste
Method:
- Combine together the urid dal and idly rice and soak in water for 4-5 hours.
- Blend them together in a mixer into a fine dough.
- Add salt to the dough and keep it for 6-7 hours for fermenting.
- Heat a tsp of oil on a dosa-tawa and spread a ladle of batter. Gently spread in circular motion.
- Keep the flame on low and add a little bit of minced onions, chilli flakes, and grated cheese (cheese to be added last) and spray a bit of oil on top and let it roast for a while.
- Do not turn it over, as cheese would stick onto the tawa. Take it off the stove and serve hot!
