Green Moong Dosa

There are somedays when I just don't feel like entering the kitchen to cook up something elaborate. Its either due to tiredness, laziness or just disinterest in everyday cooking. Friday last week, was one such occurrence!

Back from office, hungry and tired, had absolutely no mood to get into the kitchen to create something to feed our hungry tummies. But we had to eat something, and eating out was not a preferred option as hubby was still loaded with work and couldn't take time off to go out. Hence, I reluctantly forced myself into the kitchen and looked for some easy ingredients to work with for a quick-to-make meal.

A couple of days back, a friend at work had told me about this Green Moong Flour, which she used to make dosas with. I had never heard of this flour. She had got me a packet of this flour the next day and had told me to try out the recipe. Well, I had forgotten the recipe! But then, I tried to adapt ideas from my prior experiment with an alternate instant Dosa batter and juggled in some random ingredients into a bowl to create a completely new batter.

In 15 minutes flat, we had yummy dosas on the plate an the combination of ingredients was quite interesting I must say... this ended up as another success experiment I would gladly repeat over and again :) As they rightly said, 'Necesity is the mother of invention' :)

Ingredients:
Green Moong Flour - 1 cup
Rice Flour - 1/2 cup
Rava - 1/2 cup
Curd - 2 tbsp
Salt - to taste
Pepper powder - 2 tsp
Coriander Leave - 1/2 cup, finely chopped
Carrots - 1/2 cup, finely chopped
Water
Oil

Method:

  • Mix in all the ingredients excpet water and make a thick paste.
  • Slowly add water to adjust the consistency to that of a dal dosa batter.

  • Heat a skettle and dab 1/2 tsp of oil and spread it over.
  • Pour in one laddle full of batter on the heated skettle and spread it out gently into an even round.
  • Smear a few drops of oil over and allow to cook for 2 minutes.
  • Now, gently flip it over and alow to cook for another few minutes.
  • Once both the sides are evenly roasted, take it off the stove and serve hot!

  •
    •  Yes, it is as simple as that! And the best part is, it can be eaten straigh off, without any accompniment, as the flavours are quite lovely by themselves.
